PRINT & ONLINE CONTESTS

Pet Superstar [ View Examples ]

Fundraiser for our Newspaper in Education (NIE) Program.

Concept:

  • For a small entry fee (portion goes to NIE another portion goes to a regional animal shelter) readers would submit photos of their pets.
  • Once the entry period concluded. First round voting took place. A broadsheet insert was published 1 time, featuring all of the photos of the pets.
  • A ballot published in the paper over the course of 2 weeks where our readers could go online and view the pictures or reference their insert and mail in their vote(s) for their favorite pets. Each vote is $0.25 and a portion of that went back to NIE and the animal shelters.
  • At the conclusion of round 1 the top 100 animals are featured in a second broadsheet insert which is published 1 time. Just like round 1, readers get the opportunity to vote for their favorite pets.
  • At the conclusion of round 2, we publish the 3 winners. We also make a donation to each of the regional animal shelters. If memory serves me correct, NIE made over $12,000 dollars this past year!
